The Red Hat Society has transformed how society sees older women. Within this world-wide social club, women over the age of 50 are finding life can still be more than just exciting, but wild and adventurous. Largely because of the exuberant and live out loud “hattitude” that chapters of the Red Hat Society exhibit, reaching 50 has never been so appealing. With chapters that have a small number of members to larger ones who eventually split off into smaller groups, the Red Hat Society ladies are everywhere and doing everything they want.
Many chapters meet weekly or monthly. The events they decide to venture out on depend largely on each group’s interest. The Red Hat Society’s only real rules pertain to age and attire, but not to the when’s where’s and why’s of how each chapter conducts themselves. Members over 50 proudly wear their red hats and purple suits while their younger “ladies in waiting” must wear pink hats and lavender suits. The leader of each chapter is the Queen or Queen Mother. Together, the chapter decides the way they wish to spend their time.
